"Let's roll"

Well folks, it is finally game time. I leave in about 2.5 hours for Iraq. I'll be going ahead of my unit as part of the Advance Party in order to get things set up logistically for the main body to arrive. I'm actually kind of excited for a couple of different reasons. One, we are finally leaving "training" mode, and moving into "execution" mode, which means we can start making a difference. Secondly, it means we are beginning the next chapter in this saga, which means I am one step closer to coming back home to my family.

Keep praying for all of the soldiers in my unit. We are entering a crucial time with the elections coming up at the end of the month. Let's also pray that the elections go well, and with a large turn out, which will solidify it's legitimacy.

Thanks again to all who have posted. I always enjoying your comments.

John G. - thanks for the offer on the bullet you found...but ammo is one thing that is not in short supply around here. They hand it out like candy at Halloween. BTW...was that post your last post to the last post, or is there another post to another post?

Still don't have an address, but I will in about two more weeks.

I have lots of pictures, but still no way to get them uploaded to the blog. I should be able to set something up once we get settled in.

Talk to ya soon.

1.10.05 This post is just another in what will be a long line of posts to your frequent (hopefully) postings of which I will definitely offer additional and subsequent posts.

I'll hang on to the bullet....just in case.

Send me a ballot. I'll vote as many times as they'll let me.

I have a web address and space. Can you upload to that if I send the upload address? Have plenty of space (wow, just like high school again, huh?). You can store and upload as many pictures as you want to it.

Extremely proud of what you're doing.

Proud to call you my brother. Closest thing I have to one.

Hey, John! You're finally over there! Wow. We wanted you to know that we're pulling for you and your men, praying for you and your men and planning for you and your men ALL to come home safe, sound and strong when your mission's over.

I (Sue) had dinner w/ your beautiful wife the other night and we were reminiscing about that gorgeous FRO you wore to our disco party. With Deb & Amy big as "brick houses", you all made quite an impression!

Hope that brings a smile to your face and we hope soon to CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES

Hi, John -

We're enjoying your postings. Uncle Ivan says - Play it safe and don't take any chances." We continue to lift you up in prayer.

About that super bowl - guess you know that John and Beth and boys will be hoping mighty hard that those Eagles are in it. With T.O. injured, not quite sure. (I hope my knowledge of this sport impresses you! I'm surprising myself.)

I talk to Mama Sue often and get the update on you and you family. Take care and remember that God holds you in the palm of His hand.

Hi there,
Just wanted to clarify something about a previous post from Sue Winsett that when Deb & I were at her Disco party we were "as big as brick houses" because we were 6 & 7 months PREGNANT. Just didn't want anyone to wonder ;-)

Honey - I am so proud of you !!! You are the best !!!

LOVE,
Amy

For the first time, I finally have a good example of someone who would rather be in the middle of closing the quarter at work, you!

Everyone back here at the ranch is praying for your whole team. Keep up the great work and come home safe.

Care packages are on the way.

Hi John, just letting you know that I think of you and your sister everyday, and I pray for both of you to return safe. It's good to see your face even if it is in the desert! Please post if you get to see Meg. Somehow it would make me feel better. Your Mom

Hi John!!! It is great to hear that you are doing well. You make everything sound so positive. We totally admire your courage and we appreciate the sacrifice, that you and every other soldier is making for all Americans! It just seems like yesterday, that you were here doing a pineapple in the pool! That was sure a great time with both of our families and we are looking forward to many more times like that, when you get home. We will be praying for you and you're whole unit for God's protection and a safe return. Let us know if you can some how receive pictures over this blog or email, because Stacey has some great ones of you and your kids swimming this past summer. Take care and God's speed! Till next time......Derek and Stacey
