On the road again
Well, it looks like I'm moving again. I got the word a few days ago that our command post will be moving to a base located a few hours north of here. Our mission is going to change a bit, and we will pick up some additional responsibilities. During the move I will have very limited access and it could be a while before I can post again. I just wanted to let everyone know so you don't think I'm being a slacker. Continue to post and send emails, and I will check on them as soon as I can.
I'm sure you have noticed that I have not been posting any pictures recently. I have run into some technical dificulties that currently prevent me from doing so. The "long and short" of it is that I can no longer connect my personal computer to the military network (I wasn't really supposed to be doing it to begin with, but as usual I was trying to "buck the system"). My personal computer has the software that allows me to upload photos, and obviously my military computer does not, nor am I allowed to install it.
In order to remedy this situation about 30 of us have gotten together to purchase our own satellite internet system so we can have unrestricted access at any time. It's a bit pricey at $7,000, but we've raised about half the funds and it will be well worth it. Once we have it set up I will be able to publish all the photos I want.
That's all for now. I would tell you more about the move and the new mission...but then I'd have to kill you. ;-)

John, I,m sure there are many of us that would love to help you obtain the satellite connection. What do we do to help? Swallow your pride and share with your "blogger buddies" as to how we can help get funds to you in order to help make the satellite connection a reality. So many are benefitting from your pics and updates. (I for one would hate to not have the contact with you.) Just a note regarding the last blog which referred to hope. I could not help but think of the holiday Christians are preparing for which offers everyone the ultimate HOPE. As you pointed out ,everyone needs hope. Thanks to you, as a representative of the U.S., hope is now something parents can truly see in the future for their little ones. They can now wake up in the morning knowing that dreams can come true and that reaching for the stars is possible. Praying for you as you move North.(Let the blog know asap and the need will be met!)Ps91 We luv you.

you work for a computer company, and not just any coumputer company but probably the biggest in the world, your youngest brother is a computer geek, thinks he is the next bill gates, get with it and get the pictures up, like you have anything else going on over there, you are an officer, you dont do any grunt work, you sit in a office and drink your coffee and work on a computer, no more excuses!!

John, good luck on your new location and mission. You are in the prayers of me and my little boys every night. The work you're all doing over there is paying off and helping to make this a better world for everyone. From the military side of me...above all, remember that your job is to help the bad guys die for their cause! So, be safe and take care of your boys above all else. And finally, as we fighter pilots like to say, "Check Six".

John, This is Carol. We hope your move is going well, you know, of course that you and your troops are always in our prayers. Who is Mr. James Carroll? When I read his comment of "check six", I was thrown back about 13 years ago (has it really been that long ago?), yes, 13 years ago with the F-18 squadron where I would always hear the pilots in the ready room coming across the communications saying things like "check six". Those are good memories! Some day soon, you too will look back and have wonderful memories of this time. Thanks for letting me remenise (sp?). Love Ya -Carol
